Guidance Department

We are excited about all the new initiatives and programs at Southern High School.  The mission of the SHS Counseling program is to enhance high achievement for every student.  We are committed to assisting your son or daughter in dealing with a wide range of issues, including academics, career explorations, personal problems and college admission.

A student may request to see a counselor by making an appointment with Mrs. Ramsey, Guidance Secretary.  Additionally, counselors will be in the cafeteria on designated days to share information, distribute materials and assist students as needed.

Our Mission:

The mission of the Southern High School (SHS) counseling department is to enhance high achievement for every student.  SHS counselors will work collaboratively with educators, parents, and the community.  Comprehensive student services will ensure that all students have access to and are prepared with the academic, personal/social, and career-related knowledge and skills necessary to become productive members of society.
