Senior Awards Night
Students particpate in Habitat for Humanity House Dedication

Victoria Pittman presents new homeowner, Elizabeth Serano-Otero, with one of the bird houses she painted in Ms. Brown's Art III class. Students painted colorful and creative designs on nearly 30 birdhouses that were used to promote and fundraise for next year's Youth Build house. Many students from Southern were involved in fundraising and building on this year's house located in the Hope Crossing neighborhood, just off Junction Road.
The Serano-Otero house was dedicated on Saturday, May 17th.

Mrs. Thorpe's Transitions Class has been involved in community-based activities this year. On Friday, April 25th, the Spartans ranked from 1st to 4th Place in various track and field events at the Special Olympics.
In the evening, students displayed their talents in the production, Voices Together in Education 2008. The performance culminated in a music therapy partnership which focused on music, social skills, speech, and communication training. This year's pilot program was funded by the North Carolina Arts Council, Durham Public Schools, and other corporate and foundation sponsors.
Way to go, Spartans!
